Hello

My name is Cédric F. Gardner. I am a French-English bilingual Bachelor of Arts graduate from Toronto Metropolitan University's (formerly Ryerson University) Creative Industries program. I specialized in Communication Studies, Visual Culture, and Business Essentials, and obtained a minor in Entrepreneurship. I completed my education with distinction as I earned an A- cumulative grade point average. Currently, I am pursuing a Certificate in Proficiency in French at my alma mater. I am very passionate about artisan entrepreneurship, copyright law, arts funding models and organizational development. I am a believer in entrepreneurial and management studies for the next generation of cultural and creative content producers in the Canadian marketplace.

My Story

The cultural and creative industries cover a range of economic activities that are concerned with the development and commercialization of human knowledge and creativity to produce both tangible and intangible goods for consumption. I want to work with you to ideate, research, target and plan your next blockbuster project so that you can launch your idea into the marketplace.

My ability to learn quickly, time spent leading teams of 5 to 10 people in fast-paced environments, combined with my knowledge of commercial product development, managing innovative processes, project management, and research methodologies, make me an excellent aspiring professional to work alongside you and your team.

One of the highlights of my undergraduate experience thus far is being a Research Intern at the Department of Canadian Heritage's Creative Marketplace Lab on Data, Skills, and Technology. I led an independent research project for over 4 months with minimal supervision. I performed a qualitative meta-analysis review through Google Scholar and Toronto Metropolitan University's (formally Ryerson University) digital library archives to uncover articles relevant to copyright literacy for the digital age. I synthesized the literary information and cross-tabulated and filtered preliminary quantitative results from surveys in order to collate and analyze my findings. I produced a 7,000+ word paper speculating that visual artists have diversified their sources of revenue to include income from digital and Internet-based streams, such as royalty licenses on web platforms and online paid downloads of their work. The empirical results demonstrated that emerging visual artists do not participate in Internet revenue streams at a level previously described.

I am currently searching for opportunities to enter the culture and creative industries to gain work experience through interning, job shadowing or permanent/contractual hiring. I am interested in pursuing a career as a researcher for the public and private sectors.

My objective is to gain more professional experience before I plan a return to academia to pursue an interdisciplinary master’s degree to gain further expertise in the art and business industry. I aspire to operate a research and strategy agency and consultancy firm while mentoring the future generation of the Canadian creative workforce.
